Becoming an educator, I found it important to consider personal statements of educational philosophy to guide me on my journey in education.

I have been driven to education by my morals and ideals in life. I believe everyone deserves a quality education, no matter their ability. I have made it my mission to give children the tools they need to be successful in life. My role as an educator is to guide students towards a better future. I believe that students learn best when they are given opportunities to grow socially and emotionally during the learning process. In my classroom, the following curriculum basics will contribute to the social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of my students; focusing on communication first, allowing for self-expression, and promoting excitement with learning.

I believe a positive learning environment is one where students' needs are truly met. Every student has basic needs such as security, growth, and relationships, which include things like housing and food security, emotional development, and communication skills. To support the growth and learning of my students, I ensure these needs are addressed by creating a safe and supportive classroom, offering student-centered lessons, and providing communication tools for those who need them. Routines are a key part of our day, offering students a sense of security and predictability. I foster growth by using positive behavior supports, and encourage all students, regardless of ability, to participate in class.

When it comes to relationships with parents, staff, and administration, again I find communication to be key. I provide weekly communication with parents through a weekly newsletter and encourage parents to talk to me through a parent portal such as parent square. With my classroom staff I find that it is important to have daily recaps at the end of the day. This will help us be consistent with one another in how student behavior is managed. Communicating with admin and other staff is just as important. Together we will facilitate providing supports for my students. I believe each of us are a vital part of the team to help each and every one of our students.

I believe teachers should embody patience, kindness, adaptability, and creativity. These qualities are essential not only for providing a meaningful education but also for ensuring that the teacher is emotionally well-suited for the role. I make it a point to practice these qualities every day.
